Cornhole Set Care

Cornhole Set Care

You just got your fresh, officially licensed team cornhole board last week.  Upon stepping in the garage you notice the wood is bowing and your heart sinks, now your BBQ has went up in smokes before it even began.  Well, here's some steps to prevent any such damage!

How Should I Store My Board?

Proper climate control is of utmost importance. Fluctuations in temperature have the potential to trigger expansion and contraction in wood, potentially affecting both its appearance and structural integrity over time. It is best to store your cornhole boards in an environment where the temperature remains below 85 degrees Fahrenheit, so your garage in the summer for example, may not be the best place.

The most significant concern for wood is sudden changes in relative humidity. For ideal storage conditions, it's recommended to maintain a controlled temperature setting. The optimal temperature range for wood preservation falls between 70- and 72-degrees Fahrenheit, while the humidity levels should be carefully managed between 40 and 60 percent. Exposure to relative humidity surpassing 70 percent can lead to issues such as peeling or bubbling of wood and finishes when the humidity suddenly decreases, causing the material to contract. The potential effects of excessive humidity on our boards encompass warping, cracking, bubbling, and peeling.

Providing Adequate Space:

Preserving the integrity of the boards means preventing any direct contact. Storing the cornhole boards in a flat position is recommended, as this ensures no warping over time. Upright storage should be avoided to ensure the boards remain in top condition.

Ensuring Protection:

To prevent scratches and other forms of damage, we advise to cover the cornhole boards. Our range of carrying cases and cornhole covers offer an effective solution for safeguarding your boards from potential harm.

Additionally, it's imperative to note that our boards are not designed to withstand outdoor conditions. As such, they should never be stored outside, as this will almost certainly degrade your favorite board!
